Well, this is the final game before Olympic competition begins on August 14th. Spain did qualify for the Olympics, and are in the same group (Group B) as the United States.

You can post any game thoughts and articles here.

USA defeats Spain 77-61

Swin Cash was the leading scorer with 14 points. Sheryl Swoopes added 11, as did Tina Thompson. Lisa Leslie had 12, but fouled out(International refs not treating her like the veteran she is  ). Diana managed not to foul out, and scored 7 points, while Sue Bird scored 5 points. It's kind of funny seeing Swoopes as a reserve. Glad to see she's starting to play and get into the flow of things.

I love DT's quote~

Quote: We pass up the open shot for the open turnover.

I caught that one too :D They really need to work on the turnover issue. Leslie had six. It's surprising though how Diana, and especially Sue, had no assists. Hopefully, things will be much better once the Olympics begin.

Hopefully, with the practices this upcoming week, they'll work out the kinks. Watching them versus the WNBA All-Stars, it appeared they were pressing (and Lisa Leslie pretending to be a point guard at that one point was scary). I'm sure once Katie Smith comes back they'll really start clicking (as they did in the spring).

Quote: you've got Lisa (Leslie) and Tina (Thompson) ... there are some horses in there.

See even Katie Smith recognizes Mr. Ed

Here is Sue's explanation on the turnovers:

Quote: The gym is like a million degrees. It's really hot out here, everybody's sweating like crazy. The ball ... your hands are sweaty so the ball is slippery. That's why we have all those turnovers. Just in case anyone at home is wondering! It is really warm in here, but it's a good atmosphere.

The "diary" entry can be found at this link:

Look for the DT headband pic on the left hand side.
