Game Time Questions:
Will it be a close game, or will it be a blowout?
Who will start for the U.S. team?
How many minutes will DT get?
Who will win?
Go Anna!! Go Diana!! Go USA!! |

it will be interesting to see just how many minutes the injured USA team players are gonna actually play tomorrow. tomorrow is a good tune-up, but at the same time, you don't wanna further aggrivate any injuries one week before the oly's.
i don't think katie smith will play at all, and i really don't expect diana to play much if she is still similar to sunday's game.
but hopefully she's been able to heal up a bit on these days off!
im guessing team USA will still win this one.
but go ANNA! the wnba should give them a good game :) |

| There are a few All Stars that feel they should be on the USA Olympic team. You can bet they'll try to win! |

| Katie Smith won't be playing in this game, and Diana has said that she is feeling better each day, so hopefully we can see more than a few minutes out of her. |

The best U.S. lineup:
Sue Bird
Diana Taurasi
Swin Cash
Tamika Catchings
Yolanda Griffith
They are very impressive together. |

Couple of uuugly numbers for the all-stars
Outrebounded 62-30 (knew it would happen, but maybe not quite to that extent)
3 point shooting: 1/20 = 5%. Ouch!! Sounds like they could have used a lil' extra practice with the larger ball
23 steals is impressive though
Team USA really looks to have an excellent blend of players though. This no longer needs to be the Sheryl, Lisa & Katie show. There is quality everywhere you look (remembering that the token tall white girl is mandatory for olympic teams ;)) |

The best players today were:
DT
Sue
Swin
Tamika
Tina
Lisa
Yolanda
I would rather have a Bird/Taurasi backcourt than a Staley/Johnson backcourt. |

I think that would be the future starting backcourt, for sure.
But right now Dawn has the experience, and while PeeWee seems like an iffy selection to start, I have to say she's been very effective in international play for the USA, so it is fair enough that she holds down that spot for now.
It's a luxury of riches really though! Van can't go wrong... he can just throw anyone in there, safe in the knowledge that they will be smart & talented enough to do the job. That depth it what really sets team USA apart from the rest of the world, IMHO. They just come at you relentlessly with quality players for the full 40 minutes, and it will take something pretty extraordinary to defeat them this year. |

| I know Staley has the experience, but experience isn't going to make up for 5 turnovers to 3 assists, with no points. The game is too slow with her and Pee-Wee in the backcourt, not to mention being short. |

| I totally agree with the Bird/Taurasi backcourt idea. Hopefully, Katie will return soon because she is an asset in the perimeter. I think the Staley/Johnson combo is not only small, but they won't be as helpful when it comes to shooting the 3-pointers. |
