| For all you mystics fans out and around (including myself). I would like to know something. As good as Chamique Holdsclaw is (great wonderfull ect.), how come even with Alana Beard helping her something is still not quite right. I mean, noone else takes the shots. I know for a fact that her and Alana are the only one's allowed to take alot of shots. (Got my facts straight from someone who tryed out for the team.) So how come noone else is stepping up, and how come she continues to take a million shots a game(some aren't good shots), instead of making her teammates help out? Does she like the fact that she takes the shots? Or is it all the coach? Can someone else help me out? |

Michael Adams is playing Beard out of position at the point.
Coco Miller has reverted back to her 2001 form.
Chasity Melvin surrounds one good game with five bad ones.
Chamique Holdsclaw still cannot play defense and has never made her teammates better, despite her individual success.
It is time to trade Mique. |

| I'm glad that someone actually notices that AB is playing out of position. She is no point guard......she is a scorer.....when he changes the way that he coaches her and how he plays her she will be very productive. All Chamique does is score. She is like Vince Carter. An all-star all by herself!!! |

| Hey,I agree that Beard's playing the wrong position but guys come on give Holdsclaw a little bit of credit, she is averaging pretty nice numbers and I mean maybe the other players don't have enough leadership to try and help out.I think the teams still trying to get used to each other.I mean come on Beard needs to be a 2 guard so she can start scoring.I used to love watching her play at Duke cause she was awesome and she still is she's still adjusting. :D |

| True True totally agree. But even tho miq has good numbers the team is still losing. Beard is a 2 guard but she playin the one. So she needs to switch to the 2 and quit passin the ball like a hot potato......she's my second favorite player and i'm glad she's starting to finally break. |

Did anybody see the game today? Now that's what I'm talkin about. I think that the mystics have found a new Franchise Player.

A few games ago, Pilight and I discussed Beard's recent two good games...and whether the good games were anomalies or the beginning of her adjustment to the WNBA.
Here is a breakdown of her statistics:
Games 1-18:
7.6 points per game, 32.8 percent from the floor, 9.1 percent from three, and 62.1 percent from the line.
Games 19-22:
21 points per game, 63.8 percent from the floor, 75 percent from three, 77.7 percent from the line.
Due to her performances over the last four games, Beard is now shooting over 40 percent overall (for the first time this season) and is averaging just over 10 points per game.
Four very productive games in a row...and she has had sporadic good games throughout the season. But she needs more games like this for the Mystics to make the playoffs and for her to live up to her billing, offensively (defensively, she is by far the best rookie in the class and one of the top five defenders in the WNBA). Again, consistency is needed in her shooting...
Unfortunately, Chamique Holdsclaw is shooting 28% during those 4 games and the Mystisc are 1-3 (but the 3 losses were on the road, one in overtime). |

Holdsclaw is completely unique compared toany other ex-lady vol.
Tamika Catching has no ego problems and either do our Merc/Vols
Lisa, Gwen, Ashley and even Nikki are all very very friendly players who are humble and hard working
(OK maybe Nikki has some ego but she used to be able to back it up;) |

it sounds like reason for concern.
nancy broke into the LA/Sacto game on ESPN tonight to talk about the situation.
but i have no idea and i won't speculate exactly because of that reason.. i simply don't know.
i think it's a pretty strange situation though and i'm wishing her the best throughout this situation. i wish she would be playing against the merc on sunday :( |
