I've been thinking about this everytime it is mentioned that Penny is so young but has been in the WNBA for 4 years now.
Are there different rules for international players joining the WNBA?
Because I thought that there was a rule that players must complete so much college before they could enter the W.

| I believe 2 years of pro experience is enough for international players, and they start 'em pretty young down here in the WNBL, which is why LJ, Penny & Veal were able to enter the WNBA at such a young age. |

| After she graduated from the AIS (which also fields a team in the league), she played for the Dandenong Rangers (a Melbourne team). |

Penny, LJ and Veally all made their WNBL debut at the AIS in 1996, at age 16, which is a pretty common age for new Institute scholarship holders.
Players usually stay 2 to 3 seasons and then go on to the WNBL or college etc. |

ok, it all makes more sense now...
thank you Australian connection :D
ok one more thing: are foreign players generally 'scouted' or do they show interest of joining the wnba and go through try outs...?
i'm sure all of the above is true, but maybe someone with more knowledge can elaborate a little more for me  |
