Great news! :D
Jeff Simon - the reporter who provides the East Valley Tribune with it's great Mercury coverage - will be joining in our Mercury discussion here @ gotnext.com
Jeff will be on vacation (insert jealousy face here) from June 19-July 1 so we may not see him until he returns........though perhaps he'll have a moment to stop in before he leaves.
No matter when he lands, it will be an asset to have him among (amongst?) us to ask questions and get his opinion/insight about the Merc. |

Geez Gia, if our moms had named us jeff maybe we could be Mercury reporters too?
Seriuosly, I am just glad to have someone report in who isn't trying to impresss with "insider" knowledge
...and who might actually have facts  : |

Agreed caune. Facts would be a good thing :)
I'd like to know what he sees as the difference in this year's chemistry as opposed to last year's lack of it. How much of the solidarity has to do with Linda Sharp being in the mix and keeping ego's grounded, and how much it has to do with some major shift (if any) in Cooper's style, etc. |

Gia asked me to answer a couple quick questions before I say Aloha for the next two weeks.
The first one regards who goes for the Mercury when Kristen Veal is ready to be activated. My best guess is that no one will go. the Mercury brass will put someone else on the injured list and they will probably do that for most of the season, unless of course, someone wears out their welcome.
Veal could be activated as early as Friday. She has been practicing full time for about one week now, but is still a bit slow.
the other question regards Brandy. Her talents obviously make her valuable to the team and that's why she has stuck around. Cooper is very patient with her although she doesn't always like doing that. Look for a possible lineup change against Sacramento tonight. That could be the start of something happening although the Mercury haven't been specific on any changes.

caune: OUCH! :x
skew: after you register you have to click again to ask for approval...something like that...I've avoided the boards for a while. I just remember it was frustrating to register. After getting the password, I finally realized one has to go back and submit for approval.
jeff simon: Welcome, it has always been nice to have BOTH you and the other jeff's articles for info.
everyone: line-up changes were mentioned as a possibility. What do you think will happen? What do you think should happen?
We definately need to get off to better starts.
Is it as simple as Harrison starting over Reid? Perhaps. Will Reed not be starting? Possibly. Will it be Moises at the PG, and Grubin at SG? Could Bonfiglio get a start? Would we put Tuvic and Williams on the floor together?
Hopefully I've posed enough questions to spark discussion. Also, I would be disappointed if somehow I didn't offend somebody with a possiblity mentioned. Obviously, I advocate all of the above changes. For those slow on the uptake, that is an impossibility. :x :x :x 8)  |

Caune,
What are some of the tidbits that have been shared?
Yes, facts and answers would be nice...yet I love semi-accurate insider info.
Actually, I believe you do as well. In fact, I think you've shared some tidbits of your own on this and other boards. Isn't that what the boards are about?
Don't mean to sound defensive...your statement is confusing...if not hypocritical. Please elaborate. |

Jeff Simon--
Welcome to the board!
I'm new this year as a Merc fan, so I crave all the info I can get; the more the better.
Have a great vacation :) :) :D
mb--
I definitely believe a change in starting line-up is in order. I would like to see:
Grubin
Reid
Harrison
Williams
Gillom
Bring Brandy off the bench. The way she acts when brought off the bench, I believe, is a key ingredient to see if there is even a glimmer of hope she can emerge from her fog this year. I really would like to see Brandy do an about face. I doubt a psychiatrist would do any good, but Seth, it may be worth a try. Brandy needs a reality check, and soon. Brandy, please wake up, you're not in Kansas.
And Hey, Kayte is now done with college  , and can get the kind of z's she needs to be more effective for the Mercury.
Did anyone, out here in California, get a chance to hear Kayte's speech on Sunday? If so, how was it? If so, did you happen to record it  :?: |

Thanks for the info Jeff and for squeezing us in before you Aloha. Pack lightly and don't forget your toothbrush.
Good thoughts you've posed, mb. I think most of us are in agreement that Lisa deserves to start and Reed does not. Not necessarily what's going to happen but that would be my guess/wish.
For the Sac game I think we're probably looking at:
Moises - PG
Grubin
Harrison
Gillom
Williams or Tuvic (my preference)
Doubt Bonfiglio would get a start but she deserves more minutes, especially when they are in need of more smarts on the floor. |

I'm starting to wonder about that easy schedule theory in regards to the 4-2 start.
Obviously if they had played better in the first half of the last game they could very well have been 5-1, but how much did the schedule to that point have to do with their apparent better start this year? |
