|
|
In case the letter has not gotten to everyone yet the Mercury will hold a select a seat day at the arena for renewing season ticket holders Tuesday the 11th of March. They are returning to the original configuration. So that means the lower parts of 121-123 are gone. Bummer. I'm in the lower part of 123. The cowbell section will have to relocate. I'm anxious to see where I can move to. Who all is planning on moving seats?
The season is almost here. Can't wait. Go Mercury! |

| Did anyone go to this yesterday? Curious as to how the turn out was and what the reaction was from ticket holders who had to move because of the removal of those sections |

I spoke to a friend who is terribly unhappy and wants to cancel. She said the amount of available seats in her price range was miniscule and she is unhappy with what she had to choose from.
She also said that prices of seats in some areas have been raised...anyone know anything about this?
I told her who to contact and to copy Seth, Ilene et al. She will most likely go to the games, but not be a season ticket holder unless they appease her in some way. |

gia - I was there because my seats were moved. I don't know if you have done this before, everyone is assigned a time to come based on seniority.
They had the arena set up like it will be for the Mercury season. They had a large map of the arena with pins in the available seats. When you get there, you can look at the map and then go to the areas you are interested in and check out the seats. When your name is called out (again based on your seniority) you tell them which seats you want and they pull the pins from the large map and enter the information in their computer database. It is a pretty good system.
Everyone I saw there seemed okay about the process. I didn't hear any complaints. My seats were relocated but they changed the pricing as well as the seating. If my seats had been the same, I would have been in a lower price bracket. I kept the same price bracket, but have better seats than before. And I had about the best seats I could get in my price bracket before. So I would have changed anyway.
Kayte, Adrain, the Coach, and Seth were there during my hour. Adrian was working with a shooting coach, practicing some dribbling skills, and looking good. Kayte, Coach Shumate, and Seth were talking with the fans. The complimentary popcorn was a nice touch.
The only concern I have is that the large map didn't show where that
#$%@ cowbell will be and I have this really bad feeling it will be closer to me than I would like. |

| I went yesterday. Lisa Harrison was there during my hour. I talked to her for awhile. She's excited about the season. At any rate for those wondering where the cowbell will be I'm in the new section d5 row 9. Lots of people love it and bring their cowbells too. I am excited about the new configuration and the season. Go Mercury! |

Unfortunately.....probably.
However, the "confogired" arena map I have shows the pull out section as NC and I have no reference to d5. If the #$%@ bell is in NC5, then it will be close enough to be REALLY :P annoying.
cuane - what kind of seniority does your friend have? When I was there, I was surprised at the number of available seats. However, I was there early in the day and I wasn't looking closely at all the price ranges. I keep my tickets in the lower range so I can afford to buy 4 instead of 2. Sections 101-103 and 113-115 seemed to be the most popular areas and, if my memory is correct, seemed to have the least amount of seats available. |

| Sportsfan, she has been a season ticket holder for at least 4 years, maybe 5. She went at 11 am on tuesday. The truth is she is sometimes hard to please, and on the negative side, so it could be her problem, oops, did I say that out loud  |

Caune, I feel your pain.
Knowing some things were in the works and changes were needed, I sought some input regarding Mercury games. At an Arizona Caliente game (women's professional football), I approached some ladies I recognized as loyal Mercury fans.
Turns out I asked the wrong person. She is nice and has some legit concerns, yet I felt on the defensive immediately. Asking what could be done to make games better (besides winning), she proceeeded to start a tirade of every perceived mistake the organization has made. Her free t-shirt was the wrong size, there weren't enough bobbleheads, games needed to be televised, sportcasts should have complete coverage of the team, her nachos didn't have enough cheese, etc.
Many of these things were beyond control of the organization. Revenue for concessions and souvenir jerseys doesn't even go to the team. The team will be taking a proactive approach this season. There are new ticket packages and an effort to bring back the fun.
Top fans concerns are being looked at: conference championship banner, Mercury logo on the court, permanent Michele Timms placard, Lisa jersey, etc.
Efforts to fill the seats and to have many fan/ team interactive events are in place.
We have hired the best coaching staff in the league! Players are training here and overseas, Maria is returning, etc.
We must accentuate the positive...we have great players, who are very fan friendly and community oriented. We have the best fans. We have committed, award winning owners.
Let's fill the seats and help keep the team here, promoting professional opportunities for young ladies of the future. |
