|
|
I happened to notice that the WNBA Season Pass subscription no longer was included in the list of my DirecTV services. So, I asked them about it. Here's their e-mail reply to me :
Thank you for contacting DIRECTV. The WNBA season does not begin until May. At this time, we do not have any information available on the WNBA package, or whether it will be available through DIRECTV this season. If this package becomes available, it will automatically renew on your account at the lowest price available.
With only one Mercury game planned for broadcast (on Oxygen), guess us out-of-town folks won't be seeing much WNBA action this year. |

kr, I did the same thing about a month ago.. I have Time Warner 'Digital Best' and I emailed them about it since it no longer was online as option. The response I got was had been discontinued but I called and they told me to check back in a month or so. I think I have every channel except Oxygen on my digital best package!! :(
looks like a GameStats/Live Stats season  |

|
|
Well, here's the "official" response from the WNBA:
Thank you for contacting the Women's National Basketball Association. We are always excited to hear from fans looking to find out more about the WNBA. The WNBA is looking forward to the upcoming season and the television coverage of our league. You can support the WNBA by tuning into ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and Oxygen for exciting game action this upcoming season.
Thank you again for your interest in the WNBA.
So I guess that means there will be no DirecTV WNBA Season Pass this year. It's really a disgrace that of more than 200 games to be played during the season, only 30 will be televised. In my opinion, the WNBA will always lack the credibility required to be financially solvent. |

Email them back and ask them to clarify: Does this mean that the WNBA Season Pass on Direct TV will not continue this season?
Force them to answer the actual question you asked |

| That's exactly what I asked them in the first place -- and that was their reply! |

| I understand. I would send their answer back to them and repeat the question until they answer yes or no. But that's just me :) |

| They give fans such patent answers in response to questions, yet wonder why people complain and the league is viewed as condescending. |

On very good word, here's the scoop............
There will not be a WNBA Season Pass.
NBA.TV will carry games in addition to whatever is on ABC, ESPN, Oxygen |

| Well, I'm certainly not going to pay (nor can I afford to pay) $100 for NBA TV on the chance that they might broadcast a few WNBA games. (And I have no interest in watching NBA games.) Bottom line: If the WNBA doesn't care about fans who are located in cities other than team cities, then I guess I no longer care about the WNBA. Too bad.... |

| NBA.tv is part of my digital cable package on it's own channel. It's not the extra fee "NBA League Pass" (or whatever InDemand/Satellite calls it), that I think you think it is, kr. |

| It's not part of my DirecTV package. It's only available if I purchase their whole sports package, which I do not want. |
