From MFO:
The Phoenix Mercury, in conjunction with the Back to School Clothing Drive Association, Bank of America and Clear Channel, will host a back to school sock drive when they take on the San Antonio Silver Stars on Thursday, Aug. 28 at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Fans in attendance are encouraged to donate white athletic socks at the doors. In addition, all 127 Valley Bank of America locations will also participate in the collection. The sock drive will benefit underprivileged children in Arizona as they prepare for the new school year. In 2007, over 1,500 pairs of socks were donated by Mercury fans.
The Mercury will also partner with the Department of Veterans’ Services and Sonoran Bank to raise money for the Arizona Military Family Relief Fund. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to support the families of Arizona’s war heroes. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.azdvs.gov/mfrf.

| Yes, times are tough. But, we gotta top 1,500 pairs this year. That number is kind of an embarassment. C'mon X Factor! We can do better :!: |
