Excellent pick! Better than I could have ever imagined. She could conceivably start at the five, with Smith at the four (if Taylor misses the season).

You liked round one...what about round two?

A good point guard (what's this say about Jen D and her one year contract and "Shin"), with Charde Houston available???

love the first pick...hate the second pick.
With Kelly, Jenn D and cappie all able to play point and Shin the japanese godess why draft another point guard?

Looking at the training camp roster, I guess we have enough posts.

Hopefully it is not a case of quantity over quality.

At this point, I am ecstatic about our draft.

The league will be a beast this year:
LA with LLL, CP, etc.
Seattle with their acquisitions.
Douglas in Indy.
Detroit is always tough.

Truly wondering what is up with Janelle Burse.

Ann Wauters for Camille little trade proposed.

Delisha Milton Jones trade forthcoming.

Nice stats

FG% .584
3 pt FG% 1.000 ..batting a thousand! (Ok only one attempt, but it went in!)
rebounds
per game
7.2
blocked shots
per game
2.7
steals
per game
1.4

and NOT in the top 5 on the team for turnovers!

Her college pedigree sure helps, NC is a running team so she should catch on fairly quick.

We are really really lucky she fell to us I think!!!

With Derevjanik and Oga, one may question drafting Mitchell with Charde Houston and Crystal Kelly still available. Sounds like Leilani is one heck of a true point guard and Pringle fulfilled our post needs.

Looking at our acquisitions and training camp invites, we seem to have plenty of posts. *see training camp roster thread*

This fan is ecstatic about our first round pick, and quite pleased with the 2nd and 3rd round prospectsas well.

I am very pleased with this pick as well. This is next best thing to Big Sil in my opinion and Big Sil wasn't going to be available.

As for picking the guards, I was surprised but I am not really disappointed. I think Mitchell is the real deal as a point...something that is really rare in WNBA, even with our guards. She is a point guard who happens to shoot as well, which is a rare commodity. I see Packer as a potential replacement for Snelly if she decides to stay home. We seem to have pretty good luck with our third round picks turning out to be contributors...or at least keeping them to fill the role they were picked to do.

There is video of the 'war room' on the Mercury site, as well as a short message from LaToya.

Did you notice that Sarver called and left LaToya a voice mail just before or as she was being named in New York. He told her to stay away from the cactus and rattlesnakes and get ready to run.

It is good to see his involvement.

I thought I would see a bit more excitement in the room when they realized that LaToya was available. It was almost like they didn't even realize it.
