From http://www.wnba.com/sky/news/PreSeason_Matchup_Sears_Centre.html: "** Tennessee forward Candace Parker, who is on track to graduate this year, has announced her intention to renounce her fifth year of NCAA eligibility and make herself eligible for the 2008 WNBA Draft."

Last year, I was hoping that Candace Parker was going to come out out early. Could you imagine the Mercury with two CPs (one who can dunk!), DT, and PT!?

This year, the evil Sparks have the 2008 #1 draft pick.

I know I shouldn't be greedy because the Mercury would not have won the championship without last year's #1 pick, Tangela Smith. But, wow, what a Mercury team that would have been if Parker had come out early last year!

Guess I'll have to get used to booing her because there's no way I'm cheering for the Sparks.

I'm expecting Parker to play quite a bit for LA. Lisa Leslie is getting older and just had a baby, so she's going to want to slow down a little bit. The bonus question is: Will Candace Parker be able to replace/play better than Lisa Leslie?

I went out to Native new Yorker tonight to watch the College Championship game with some other Mercury fans and officials. It was a lot of fun. It's always fun to get together. Ann Meyers, Bridget, Corrie Gaines, and Jay Perry all seem jazzed about the season. I appreciate the Mercury for putting on the event. I know it was an effort considering the D-Backs and Suns were both playing tonight. At any rate I am very excited about the season. The draft tomorrow should be interesting. We'll see what happens. Go Mercury!

I think she can be better if she can stay healthy. Candace is more athletic than Leslie, but she's been hurt a lot. If she stays healthy, she'll have an awesome career. I mean, anyone who plays above the rim in WNBA will dominate.

Candace won't be replacing Leslie. Candace will be starting at the four, next to Leslie.

So correct....

And at time, CP3 could be playing the three with Taj and Leslie at the other posts.

The ironic thing about LA going "big" is that they can have a rather tall and talented 3, 4, & 5...but they are still going to be at midget at point. Com' on, what are their choices...midget and even smaller midget.

Of course, to listen to Cooper, Candace might be their point guard.
