11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks in Perth's UPSET 61-56 win over LJ and Vealy's Canberra. Maybe the Merc should get her back in camp!
No idea about Vealy's performance but I have a feeling it wasn't very good... |

No, I'm afraid it wasn't very good at all :(
It all started when just seconds into the game she overshot LJ on one of those patented long passes. Coach Maher was into her - loudly - for the entire rest of the match. I'm sure her stats will not be pretty.
In Vealy's defence though, she does *not* look healthy at all.
Canberra travelled with only 8 players tonight, so Vealy basically had to play. But she was in obvious pain, and was receiving treatment to her shins or ankles virtually every time she was off the court.
Some great D by Crouse though - whacking shot attempts back at LJ & Co. on many sweet occasions :)
Most impressive was my personal favourite - ex. AIS'er Rohanee Cox. Wow that girl has got game. Wish this one had been televised so I could send over the tape. |

Dan,
It was Vealy receiving treatment, not LJ, correct??? Or both?
Kristen's stats have been good most of the season, I thought. Scoring, FG%-age, assists...high TO's though.
Would it be correct to assume her knees have recovered, yet she is wearing down in the shins and ankles.
Many are concerned about her mobility and quickness. I have seen what she is capable of (2 Grand Finals MVP's and Mercury exhibition/preseason game with 13 assists). My hope is for her to have great WNBA success.
Please elaborate and give us a very detailed assessment.
Perhaps we can expect Moises at PG and Vealy at SG at times this season, with Bonfiglio and Grubin getting major reserve minutes. :?: :?: |

mb,
Yes, it was definitely Kristen receiving all the treatment during the game. Afterwards both her & Loz were soaking their legs in ice water, but Lauren didn't look *too* bad during the game (Not her usual energetic & dominant self, but still put up a very healthy 21 points & 14 rebounds!)
Vealy's line was 23:37 minutes, 0 pts (0/7 fg), 3 reb, 2 ast, 5 t/o, 1 stl, 5 fouls.
I'm guessing her knees are OK. I've just been informed that she had a nasty ankle roll in her last match, which could explain all the treatment she was getting. Like I said, they only travelled here with 8 players, so she was never going to be able to rest it either - not with only Nat Hurst available as a backup PG.
Her lack of mobility is the reason she fouled out I'm guessing - had trouble stopping the dribble penetration & was forced to reach in a lot.
Don't stress though - whatever she's suffering from (assuming the knees are OK) will surely be OK after the end of season break before the WNBA season gets underway.
Canberra now have to fly back and play at home against Adelaide - a nasty piece of scheduling for an injury-plagued team :(
Go Vealy!!
btw last night's box score is at
