Weatherspoon to be named head coach of ABA's Westchester Phantoms

Teresa Weatherspoon has accepted an offer to become head coach of the Westchester Phantoms, an ABA expansion team that will be tipping off next month at Peekskill High School. The former WNBA All-Star with the New York Liberty will bring instant credibility to the franchise.
"I've wanted to do this for a while," said Weatherspoon, who expects to sign a contract on Saturday. "Once I was asked, I immediately said yes."
Weatherspoon will be on hand at Westchester Community College this weekend helping to select the 10-15 players who are going to make up the roster.
"I don't see her having any problem commanding respect from the guys," Phantoms general manager Artie McGriff said. "She takes us to another level."
