Do we like the idea of a male coach and John Shumate's knowledge, or do we make an offer to Carrie who also has a great basketball mind?

Sounds like she'd accept our offer rather than wait for Seattle.

Once again, I'd rather not be in Seth's shoes. Luckily, this is a contest between great candidates (don't know who 3rd choice is).

Interesting. Seattle wants her to wait for a job she might not get. On the otherhand Phoenix might not offer her the job and she will have time to wait.

I prefer Shumate. I have nothing against Carrie but I think the Mercury need to infuse a whole new mindset and brand new blood into the mix. Someone without a past history with the team so that there is no accusations of favoritism (i.e. if Veal plays more than Moises).

There is good and bad (not bad but maybe not so good) about Carrie.
The familiarity is good and bad. I have heard fans complain that she would stock the teams with Aussies, which some think is bad, although I would more then welcome Batkovic, Woosnam and Jo Hill in our training camp!
Some fans are insisting on a female coach, so she does cover that base
I like her and wouldn't pitch a fit if she gets the job...but......................
I would prefer Shu...but you know if he gets hired, we'll collectively have to take the blame is he sucks

Why fans would insist on a female coach is beyond me. We should desire the best candidate regardless of gender. Having always been a Carrie Graf fan, my hunch is a male coach would do a world of good for this team.

Graf or Shumate are both welcome. We will be above .500 next season for certain.

Go Mercury!!!

For the militants insisting on NLC, state your reasons please.

Why people are insisting on a female coach is beyond me too.

All things being equal, if it comes down to Graf or Shumate then that's fine. But Shumate still has a slight edge in my humble <cough> opinion, which is.........he would bring them to the "start out with a shiny clean slate point" and that's really where they need to be.

I'd be ok with taking abuse if we have a horrible season.......as long as Mat H stood in front of me :)

Hehe, half way through Shu's first season, we can be crowing with pride, or getting beers lobbed at us;)
Hey I'll take the blame, bring it on, because I think win or loose, in the end, he is the right choice for this team on so many levels! He is an outsider who isn't really an outsider...and I think he will command respect from his players
I will stand behind my choice! Shumate all the way!

And don't forget.....along with that pride crowing, Seth is going to take us all for ice cream!

How do we know Shu is one of the 3 candidates? I would be happy to bask in the glory of Shu's success. I have no doubts that he could lead us into the playoffs. Sometimes the team just needs a new perspective and attitude which he would bring. Gia I would be happy to stand in front of you if I were wrong. I'll put my money on Graf because it sounds pretty clear Seth has no surprises. :(

Graf is in town to make her job pitch which will include the "I could probably talk Fallon into returning" morsel.

The candidates are all listed in today's Republic. Looks like no one's been ruled out..........yet. Still the same list with same anemic names ;)

For some reason Graf just doesn't excite me :x ...I know anything would be an improvement over last season. If I were a gambler, I'd bet the job is already hers. Too bad, I wanted some new blood in the franchise.
