Kristen Rasmuusen will not start on the IR. She was cleared to start practice on Monday and should be ready for Saturday's game.

cam is correct about the way the system works and having to rethink traditional roles. The system requires quite a bit of discipline and movement. A good ball handler is a must. Good court awareness is very helpful. A traditional banger is really not as necessary if we can double team and not allow them quick passes to an open player.

There are a couple of reasons why we got out rebounded so bad the other night, IMO. One is that we shot so poorly. Traditionally teams get more defensive boards than offensive and we gave the Sun a lot of chances for defensive boards. I think another reason is that our post players are playing more on the perimeter than inside on the offensive. That can be okay, if you make the move to the basket when the shot is in the air, but most players just sit back on watch it fly.

As much as we got burned by layups and quick baskets when we had our full court pressure on, we also disrupted the play and timing many times as well. We are one of the league leaders in opponent turnovers so far in preseason.

I think this is a perfect time to introduce Paul Ball to the WNBA. One of the things that helps this system is getting teams to play at the pace YOU want to play at. In other words, YOU want to dictate the pace. With the new 24 second clock, teams are thinking about speeding up their game and I think that thought process could play right into our hands.

Have any of you thought about how huge this game is on Saturday? I mean if we win? What a confidence booster! Defeating the defending champs in their house with our new system and put this team on the right track to winning a lot.

Quote: Q: Why did you want to coach in the WNBA?

A: Just time and place. The opportunity came up. I was intrigued by the possibility of how my style of play … would work in the women’s game. I said there’s only one way I’m going to find out. And I still don’t know the answer to that but it’s sure like an adventure for me and it will be for them. And it’s going to be something that really works and shakes things up or we may struggle with it. If it were that automatic, it’d be a no- brainer and everyone might try it. There’s a high risk with this system … I’ve never coached women and I thought this would be a perfect chance to try it

Coach also mentioned game 5 as a benchmark...it may take 'til then to know if the system will take.

Granted, things will get frustrating at times.
