... since Seattle need the win more, I have to say I am cheering for them.
*enters the bomb shelter to protect himself from incoming flames*
It should be a good game though. Phoenix are on a roll atm and Seattle have the desire to do better after that poor performance against the Fire. I think the keys to the game are whether Seattle can stop Phoenix's inside game (they haven't stopped anyone else's) and whether LJ can keep herself out of foul trouble and be a factor. Also Phoenix have to keep an eye out for that sparkplug Sue Bird. |

How about if we just let them need the win more after tonight? The Mercury need as many home wins as possible with that long road trip coming up. That's the only thing that's scaring me at this point. If they get into a 10 point hole on the road there may not be a ladder long enough to get them out.
Bobo & Adrain are really going to have to step up against Loz and take it to her early. Lisa on Sue Bird?? |

The Mercury snuck away with a lucky win last night. If Cooper sticks with her schizophrenic subbing and if Loz & Bird fire together, it could be very ugly for the Mercury. I think Coach Graf would be happy to take the W from Cooper too!! :D

I say Merc by 7 because the refs can't possibly be as stinky as last night. |

  hey I love the merc, I just believe we have serious issues with Bransy Reed and Coop and I think Seattle has the ability to exploit those weaknesses.
BTW I just found out that the fantastic US postal service sent your Capitals t-shirt back to Australia!!!
It may be a little longer before you get it now!!
If u know where is sit, come and say G'Day!!
Go Merc ( I still think Seattle by 15  ) |

Hey everyone,
I reckon the Storm will win if Bird and Jackson get going but I have this horrible feeling Lauren is going to get into foul trouble again.
However I kinda hope Merc win, see how long this winning streak will go on and I want to see Lisa get more court time. It will be interesting to see how Grubin goes against Bird.
Aaagh, I don't know who to go for now!!!! I need the Aussies, (except Burgess  ) to be on the one team. |

 well said Totem
No matter how much they love Annie in Washington I'm never going to be convinced!
This is a game we should win though. Seattle are probably playing the worst ball in the league at the moment. They lost at home to the Fire for goodness sake! At least Detroit are capable of getting a lead before blowing it ;)
Sue & Loz have both been down, and being good players you can be sure that they'll step up before too long, but the way we're going at the moment we can deal with that.
My main concern is the matchups at the guard spots. I've got this horrible feeling that Henning & Bird are going to cause some serious havoc with their defence. Hope I'm wrong with that one.
One important stat that will favour us though: Merc are undefeated when Scorch starts at the mascot spot :D |

:? Interesting game... Merc almost came back again. As much as I hate losing this may be a good lose for them.. for the last 2 games they haven't looked like the team they were 3 games ago... look lost, helter-skelter, starters generally not producing. Second half they come out looking more poised, methodical...... need that both halve.
kudos to the bench, they more than held their own |

Defense... what defense? ;)
That was a great game to listen to. Kudos to both teams for playing well.
Reed should be bye bye. Great game for Moises who stepped in nicely for the tired-sounding Grubin. Grandmama showed us she can still dominate on the court.
One thing though, Phoenix's transition defense was atrocious. So many times Ragland, Bird and LJ just scored or created at will on the break. |

The Merc had a huge problem with the double team which usually involved Jackson. It took them a while to figure out that left Jenn open.
Nice work on closing the gap at the end, but too little too late.
Gillom and Moises put up nice numbers, Bonfiglio was solid again. Harrison showed leadership.
Huge kudos to Coach Sharp for smart substitutions......and again, for not putting up with Reed's sulking. |

Thoughts on the game...
...when are we going to learn to handle a press?
...why did we start playing only in the last 10 minutes? Brandi's attitude distracting til then? hmmmm...
...Brandi? Um, oh joy...love the attitude...position on the bench, the standing away from the team in t/o's, the coming on the floor apart from the team...if she's still w/the team on Tuesday, expect a nice show of frustration on me and a few others parts...pampers anyone?
...G'ma, nice hard play, in the last 8-10 minutes...glad to see it...keep that up and I might not even heckle you anymore...;).
...passing down into the blocks! We had some of that for nice production down low. HALF -COURT GAME! We need more planned half-court sets, and the g's need to look more for the big girls down low!
Um, the new coach can't sit back so much. The team need their butts chewed earlier to wake them up, be it from Brandi's 'tude or whatever.
In bounds play on a press...LET YOUR BIG PLAYERS INBOUND THE BALL!

Where were Grubin and Reid's offense? Grubin did have some nice assists.
Well done Moises and Harrison. Nice to see Bonfiglio, why not Saunders.
Time for Brandy to go. I'll ring Seth up on Monday to lobby.
Love Jen's offense but diminishing rebounding ability hurts her defense.
I tried to state that nicely.

Keeg:
The following is all in pseudo-jest, so take w/a grain of salt... 8) :
1) The "insult" stems from your Benedict Arnold dual loyalty, you hack!
2) The "insult" was of the similarity of your BEAK to that of Laren's. "Our" Aussie's are better looking then "their" Aussie's, and you're bringing us bad karma by cheering for "their" Aussie's...thus the "insult, " you hack!
3) By now, you've been properly tweeked for bringing our girls bad karma, as I'm certain you sacrificed the goats again...you must have, because we lost and I get to blame you, and your love for the girl and her team who shares your most prominent feature! Vealie and Timmsy's are cuter by far, so quit the goat thing and come back into the fold, Benedict Platypus...else I'll have to keep insulting the beak!

Seattle traded Sonja Henning to the Comets for Amanda Lassiter. (Full article in the WNBA section)

The platypuses approve. They have detected positive vibes from the Lin Dunn bobblehead.
