University of Arizona center Shawntinice Polk collapsed and died this morning.
Shocking. Incredibly tragic. |

What a shocker! This makes me especially sad because I've come to know her through her playing against ASU. She played injured most of last season. I've been hoping for her return to her previous playing potential so that Seth might draft her as center. In her best form, she might have been the answer to our post problems. She was an impressive, imposing and aggressive presence under the basket. Nobody ever tried to run her over when she was set!

Wow. That last photo really got me.
What a loss, so young, so strong, so obviously loved. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to her family, friends and teammates. |
