She put on another disgusting, childish, selfish display tonight and unlike Cooper, Linda Sharp would have none of it. Sat her sorry ass on the bench where she could pout till the cows came home.

Seth better wake up tomorrow and toss this piece of work out with the morning trash. I will lose all respect for him and this org if anything less than that happens.

As a side note, my over/under for her departure was June 14.

I take it she blew up again? I wasn't able to listen to the game, but I did see from the boxscore that she only played 8 minutes, so I was wondering about that.

actually, she didn't blow up.... she played poorly, got booed, pulled for Harrison who got cheered...... then pouted, and pouted, stood back on team timeouts, and pouted, came out late from half time...... and pouted, kept her distance from the team, and........

That 8 minutes she played was 7 minutes & 30 seconds more than she deserved.

Like my sign said last night: "Shea deserved to stay!"

Sucks that she is gone and we are back one week later talking about Brandy pouting again. What a bummer! Shea even knew how to rebound too...... :x

Anyway, Gia, I love the board. This should be fun!

Ok, loved the standing 15' away from the team as they came back onto the floor from a t/o, while the other 4 player circled and supported one another. Nice effort.

Love the slouching in the chair w/dejected facial expression and legs spread wide.

Loved being 15' from t/o's in general.

And let's not forget, is that the SLOWEST walk to the after being pulled off the floor you've ever seen or what?

 IF she's not traded or cut by Tuesday, the pampers boxes and pens are going to the game! I would LOVE to have a few hundred running around the arena w/#23 printed on them being waved!!!!! Join in the fun if so inclinced!

I was surprised at how lightly the newspaper treated her behavior today giving only a mention in the Thumbs Down section calling it Regression #2

AND they put Reid in the same thumbs down category for being "ineffective" even though ALL starters outside of Jenn had a total of 4 points I think.

Hoping mb will post what the Tribune had to say about it.

What to do about Brandy?????
She has become untradable, that's just becoming a fact of life, but the big fear is you cut her and it comes back to haunt the organization for years when shes picked up for nothing and becomes an all star......but you know, I am ready to take that chance, cut her sorry behind and give Lisa her minutes back :!: ...and maybe they could find a few minutes for Jay while their at it!

VT....did you mean have the big girls throw in the ball like Kayte did last night...straight to Sue Bird :?

Coaches....could we please practice beating the press??? It's obvious the league knows it's our weakness, that and free throw shooting, so let's focus on strenghtening our passes?

Brandy hummmm...too much to type on that subject. Maybe Brandy would appreciate it  more coming off the bench to give Lisa a breather. I assume Reed expected to show up and start whereas Lisa has worked hard and deserves to start.

First, from the Tribune write up in the paper:

Sharp and the Mercury's other assistant coach, Eric Cooper, were in contact with Cynthia Cooper during halftime and she instructed them not to start Reed in the second half. It was It was up to Sharp and Eric Cooper if they wanted to put Reed back in the game, and they did not.

"I don't know what is happening, and I don't want to get into it," Sharp said. "I'm not in the player's head. If she's not in the flow of the game, we have some other players that play hard. She wasn't really into it for whatever reason."

Last evening I had acouple fans come up to me and say "I'm probably Brandy's biggest fan, but..."

It is time to let her go. If we are scared of another team picking her up (we shouldn't be), then suspend her for conduct detrimental to the team.

Or as Capsman said "It is time to realise that Brandy's head injury is worse than Vealy's knee injury!'

Second, while I enjoy this board, esp. the emoticons and avatars; let us remember to support the AZCentral board as well. Jeff Metcalfe keeps us up to date and provides more coverage than any other team in the leauge receives. In fact, I would ask that everybody send e-mails to both the Tribune and Republic thanking them for their coverage. Also the tv stations that give any coverage. The media needs to know there are fans out there. The leauge and team deserve our support.

...steps down from soapbox.

If the Mercury organisation can keep an underperforming loser like Brandy Reed on it's roster and leave Kristen Veal on the IR when she's ready to come back, questions need to be asked about the Mercury brains trust. They obviously are not interested in putting together a winning program. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

You know, in the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres in 1990 traded Ray Sheppard to the New York Rangers for $1. Literally. And that was after he'd scored 60 goals for Buffalo in two seasons with them. He was just such a locker room cancer that they didn't care how little they got as long as they were rid of him. He played another ten years after that, always getting his 30-goal seasons (even had a 50 goal season once)--and played for 5 more teams in those 10 years because he poisoned every clubhouse he was a part of. New York kept him for one year, got 47 points in 59 games out of him (24 goals), and then they essentially dumped him too.

Some players just aren't worth the headache, no matter how much talent they have or how much ditching them may come back to bite you.

Thanks for pointing that out, mb. I'm all for supporting all the media that provides Merc coverage. That's why I buy the paper and watch Channel 12 ;) - Perhaps Jeff will also consider posting here as well like he does on the ESPN board.

Do you have the email address for the Tribune reporter?

Imagine the Merc management have some sort of Brandy timetable, an if she does this, we do this thing. They seemed to act quickly after the last 'tantrum'. If/when she goes management will probably have acted in a manner that says 'we gave her every chance and she did'nt take advantage of it' - but can we wait that long?

Expect that our little anti-socialite is going to get nothing more than a slap on the wrist and someone deserving to stay (Bonfiglio, Saunders, Reid?) will be moved to IR when Vealy returns.
