So UConn was the standard of excellence in the last 10 years when Tennessee was winning 3 straight national titles? Last 5 years, yes, but not last 10. |

Setting someone "straight?" There's a first for me. :)
Not to disparage the article, the author, or the site, but it is disengenous (and disrespectful) to claim UConn is the standard for the last 10 years when Tennessee ripped off 3 NCAA titles in a row during that time. UConn has certainly been the standard 2000 onward, though. |

| I think what the author meant to say was UConn like (Tenn after them) was a great dynasty. I remember when they lost out to Stanford closing the door to a 4-peat. That was when I heard the name Taurasi, not knowing who she was then until now. I've watched them play when they had Rebecca Lobo. I wonder did Lobo and Taurasi meet as in was Lobo there (not playing necessarily) when D came in as a rookie? |

| Bec and Nykesha Sales both trained on and off with the team during Diana's freshman year. |

| I think the last ten years is used because Uconn got their first championship in 1995..but I also agree, Uconn couldn't have been the standard in the late 90s.. |

Then who? Tennessee? Just a thought, but kow ,amy eings does it take to be considered a 'standard'? Very different from a 'dymasty'. The Celtics reign or Chicago's in 91-93, 96-98 or even the Lakers 3 peat. Or the Comets. 4/4? I doubt an NBA Franchise or any other has done that. As I said earlier UConn almost did.
So if you must win 3 rings in five opportunities to become a dynasty, I guess twice as many (6 in 10) makes you the 'standard'.
What I'm trying to say is I agree. The bar is raised over time; the goal is having to reach it. And alas, different teams. levels of play, therefore, different standards. I rambled, didn't I? Forgive me |

You could have say Uconn and Tennessee have been the standard for the past ten years, and you could say that Uconn has been one of the standards in the past ten years, but you can't leave out Tenn when they won 3 rings in the lat 90s...
You could also say that DT and Claw were the standard in College basketball for a majority of the past ten years as well.. |
