Which six players, not counting unrestricted free-agents (UFAs), do you believe the Mercury will protect and prevent Chicago from drafting in the upcoming expansion draft?
Which players are candidates on the roster to be left unprotected, placed in the player pool, and availabe for Chicago to draft? |

repost from Phx seattle thread
Who do we protect? Assume we DON"T have to protect Penny because she is a UFA so who's left?
Diana
Anna
Kamilla
Maria
(Is she considered a UFA? She was drafted in 98? but do those years of not playing count towards years of service?Gil any insight on this)
Ashley
Sandora
This leaves Shereka unprotected, but I think she deserves a real chance to shine and Chicago may be her place, and Angelina unprotected which kills me cause she's a joy to watch and I think Chicago wants a running team, but .... |

the tribune had an article about what needs to be done in the off season. I'll try to get the link. http://www.wnba.com/mercury/news/tribune_050829.html
It doesn't address the expansion draft, but what Phoenix needs to do to keep what we have etc.
I think we need to invest in an assistant coach for the post players. The coach could teach, positioning, blocking out, the short jumper, foot movement etc. Things that we saw flashes of in all of our posts, but not on a consistant basis.
I hope Ashley does go overseas and develops a short range jumper, learns to get and maintain position, so she can be more effective. Zero rebounds in Seattle  |
