Official Phoenix @ Sacramento 8/23
Here it is - I've been lucky so far and want to stay that way :!:

We beat Sac by 14 pts 8/12 & we can do it again. Don't let their home court make a difference. We determine the pace

Contain Yo and Nic Powell and we can win it. Let's not forget Demya. She can be dangerous too.

Our entire bench must make up for Maria's 8/12 performance: 7 rbds, 2 ast, 5 steals, 4 BS and 14 pts (gulp) Ashley was the only bench player with minutes. The others have proven to us, since then, that they have what it takes
(Goooo Bench!)

We'll take 23 pts from Penny again too (ice that strained/bruised calf)

Oh Yea... Diana
Give us more of that special spunk that lights up the team and arena.

U mor edukatd fans cn ryt da teknikl stuf now

What a dilema!! :? Should she play or should she stay? If she plays, there's a chance she'll get injured even more. After all, it was in the game we beat Sac that she was injured in the 1st place. They'll be out for revenge. It won't be pretty. Then again... will we get to the playoffs without Penny? I'm glad its not my decision. :(

Okay, who is counting the votes and notifying Carrie and Seth of our decision :)

The only way Demya will be dangerous tonight is if she's too dazzleing on the sidelines, cause she's injured, which evens out with Pennys injury.

I say PJ stays here and hangs out in the hot tub, takes a nap and gets ready for the Comets!

The rumor is Wiz may play his bench players more since Sacto would have to win out and pray CT loses to get home court advantage in the finals (CT swept the season series).

I am a stand up guy...Lisa Harrison has turned her season around and has proven me wrong (well, not wrong about her play pre-Houston, but she is not the same player she was before the Houston game). She should get the starting spot tonight.

I think we will see Ashley Robinson on Brunson, who is like a pogo stick with her jumping and athleticism. Ashley's athleticism is not quite as good, but Ash has 3 inches on her. Vodi will match up better with Yo, because Kamila can body her up better. Harrison will defend Nicole Powell, who went off in the first half during the last game with the Monarchs.

Sacto is a very good defensive team. The key for Phoenix is the ability to manufacture points in both halfcourt and transition sets...and there may not be that many transition opportunities. Good ball reversal (something Lisa has always done well, because she isn't looking first for her shot) will be key.

Re: Lisa.

She had to be helped off the court at half-time versus Minny. I was
surprised to see here play after half-time. Someone else said she
was helped off at the end of the game too.

Any reports on how her knees are holding up?

Ouch! The bench is really going to have to step up with out Penny. She is a valuable part of this team! She is a bigger loss to us than Demya is to them. I will be rooting here in Massachusetts! Get better Penny!

It would be nice if Sacto played most of their bench, but after the thrashing they received here, they might want revenge.

We need to play smart and take care of the ball. Rebounds will be key and will be a little tough. Brunson will be a handful in the paint and Ashley will have to use what little body she has to maintain position on her.

PT needs to stay home and rest and get ready for Houston. This game will be a good barometer on how good our bench is. The last two games were confidence boosters now they'll get a real test.

A win tonight would be a great bonus. Let's stay above .500!

Well the good thing is, Lisa played better defense on Nicole than Penny did, however we could have used Penny's twenty points.

If Phoenix could pull out a win with Diana on the bench for a half, then maybe Phoenix can pull a win with Penny out. It will be hard because we are on Sac's homecourt, hopefully they are playing their bench more, they might as well rest their starters  theyd on't have anything to worry about...Sacremento wouldn't look too bright, if they lost Yo in a meaningless game..

The Mercury are in a good position to seal their fate so to speak and this game can speak volumes about what they can do down the road.

As much as I would like to see Penny in uniform tonight, I think it is more important she plays here against the Comets.

Cam, I am so glad you have been able to see Lisa's contributions. I would agree that she has been much better after the Houston game than prior. I think her after game comments helped to explain why it took a while for her to get back into game shape. That said, I hope she will do the little things offensively that she has done the past few games, i.e. offensive boards and taking the open shot. We will need a little from her tonight offensively. If she can contain Powell, then she will make it easier on the offensive end, but we will still need some scoring from her and Ashley.

Speaking of Ashley....she had improved so much. Even her free throws are better. Ashley....you need to believe.

Kamila will have to do a number defensively on Yo which might have an impact on her offensive game. But Yo will have to defend her away from the basket which could prove to be a good thing too.

The Mercury can will this game. They will have to take the crowd out early - Sacramento is one of toughest crowds - but I think they can do it.

GO MERCURY

Turnovers. If we'd have taken better care of the rock, it would have been a different outcome, despite the lack of rebounding. And if we'd had Penny, there'd have been no doubt. Still, I'm glad she stayed home and rested. We need her to whip Houston's arse.

GREAT game from Snelly - so glad to see her get really aggressive. I happen to be a huge fan of the "Australian Step-through". Plus, she stayed in it despite being thrown to the floor by the big Yo. No foul called, of course. I thought they were playing with Australian-rules Football refs.

Ann Meyers must be stopped. But she did say the "Manarchs", so she gets to live another day for giving me a new term for Sac.

Umm, I probably should read the box score before I post. We wound up w/ only 2 rebounds less. But the lack of 2nd chances in the first half dug us a hole from which it was difficult to climb.

Kudos to Kamilla for the double-double. She was great, "sore throat" and all.

I think the Brigade should create a line dance for the "Australian Step-through". That phrase was the best thing the "wired up" Wizzinator said when they weren't bleeping him. Better to broadcast an Aussie - she can cuss and we don't even know it's a cuss!

They bleeped Graffy once from memory ... and it was about 5 seconds after she actually swore. That made me laugh.

Wuddup Peoples,

Well First of all, Ladies y'all did a good job playing the Monarch's even

though it was a fixed game and everyone seen that. Personally I didn't

like the game because the Ref wasn't calling $#E!+. If they gonna call it

for one team then call it for the other team too. They pissed me off but at

least the Mercury Ladies get their cool and I know how y'all feel because

came through some games like that before. Good Job Ladies and y'all

tried y'all best. Keep y'all head we still in the GAME LADIES. Good Luck

and God Bless.

your fan, adrienne

I haven't watched the game yet, but looking at the boxscore, the one thing that stands out is 20 turnovers. I was surprised to see we weren't blown out when I saw that stat.

It was a tough road loss and we have to regroup for tomorrow night. We keep control of the ball and we win.

why is it we aren't allowed to play physical against teams that are so obviously physical? We tried to match their intensity and get call after call against us
We did hang in there, and I have no doubt we can take Houston on thursday....but we really need an LA loss :x

Because the refs get confused! We're known as a finesse team and they can't wrap it around their tiny brains that we can be physical.

In my non-expert opinion, we gave the game away. Yeah, we rallied and fought hard but if we hadn't let the best team in the West go on a 16-3 tear in the first half, we wouldn't have had to fight hard. We didn't play a full 40 minutes. And with a team like Sac, that won't win any ball games.

Oh SuziQ, I really don't think you mean that. Rhythmless nation trying to choreograph? Yipes! Hmmm...maybe Graffy will let us borrow her Riverdance shoes...

LG, I suggested the line dance because it's the easiest thing for those of us who's body's actions cannot match the mental desire to move. Maybe one of our players could create it - they sure can move.

I did get a compliment on my "dance moves" (aka barely controlled spasms) at the last game from one of the Glendale Genie girls selling 50/50 tickets. Oh, she's so young and has so much to learn.
