San Antonio Silver Stars at Mercury Fri 8/19
I am working towards redemption on this one.
SASS at 7-24 is also playing back to back after losing Thursday.
Sparks are 13-16 while Lynx are 14-17. WE WILL WIN 8/19!!
I read that our bench got some court time so should be ready to play ball.
*If* this turns out to be the usual game with SASS, Coach needs to put our bench in as much as possible. They need the practice!!! We need them to get through the season.
Whatever unmentionables Carrie said to the players Tues at half time, she needs to yell them again before this game (not a Freudian slip).
Mercury should NOT be overconfident. We've been surprised before.
They need to get over whatever the h** is bugging them.
DT & A-Rob must stay out of foul trouble & make nice nice to the refs
Everyone must rebound more & get those points in the paint.
Let's hope we get officials that at least call both teams the same  |

We can't worry about them. We just have to play. Carrie should tell them to expect every off the wall call, so play smart, watch your temper and keep playing until play is stopped. They shouldn't expect anything from the officials except a foul call. I'll stop my rant.
We need to come out and control the tempo and take care of the ball. Rebounding and keeping turnovers down will be key.
SASS have taken the role of spoiler very well. We need to thank them for knocking off Minnesota making our trip into 4th a little quicker, by beating the pants off of them.
Keeping Ferdinand and Thomas in check will be key. Dee should be able to post up Pee Wee and use her size to our advantage. It will be nice to Penny to go ballistic.
Lets break this one wide open early, so Carrie can do some liberal subbing and our starters get to rest and the bench gets their feet wet. |

| My key to this game and all future games is to beat the crap out of the refs and threaten to send them to Siberia or any other nasty place if they don't shape up!!!! |

We brought out a can of whupp-ass! Gotta love it.
Stat of the night: 6 turnovers :D
Wish I could have seen the game, but I'm in Portland.
Enjoy this win and then let's finish off the Lynx on Sunday.
Carol, you redeemed yourself. No more shoe shopping until the end of the season  |

This game was a little bittersweet for me. Only in the sense that I was at home with my 2 sick men and chose to miss the game and after party...
As for the Mercury - they looked really good out there out there from what I could 1/2 see and hear. I love the live webcast, but it lags so incredibly bad.
Great teamwork, and amazing job of taking care of the ball. They went out there and did their thang; the rookies too  I almost thought I was hallucinating from lack of sleep, but confirmed that SANDORA, SNELLY, and WILLIAMS all got significant playing time, and handled their business. Great job, ladies!!
Incredibly Off-Topic:
I hope to be at the game Sunday, but will see you all definitely at the after party and will be bringing the tamales I promised you all  |

I also thought I was hallucinating when I saw the boxscore.
I hope the bench will get a few more minutes in the rotation. |

my favorite stat of the game:
Sandora - 4 blocks
It would have been 5, but Ashley got called for a foul from behind on one of them. Irvin blocked Feenstra twice.
best play of the game:
Feenstra jumps up with the ball on the block. Looks to shoot but Irvin is there, so she just lands with the ball in her hands.
Great game all around. Our bench played a good portion of the second half, but never gave up the lead; they actually extended it. I actually found myself cheering for LH at one point!! Only gripe was that it looked like a scrimmage for part of the second half, with both benches in. Don't mind the minutes for Sandora, Snelly, and Angelina though. |

Best play of the night, hmm, Sandoras first three pointer or maybe her second :D Keegs when she made the 3 she held up 3 fingers and said "son of oovy"
The other highlight, Belindas 3 offinsive rebounds in like 5 seconds, she's an aussie all right, rebounding with the big dogs! |

Did Sandora really say SonOfOovy?
As for Belinda, she knows how to use her size when rebounding. There is a reason why she's in the WNBL league leaders in rebounding year in and year out (and it's not just because we have sucky posts down in the WNBL) |

I am glad to hear that the bench finally got some time, especially Irvin. I hope to see her play in one of the televised games coming up.Excellent job!

The Mercury Shine Over the Stars
By Janet Webster, Phoenix Staff Writer: Aug. 20, 2005
The game Friday night at America West Arena between the Phoenix Mercury and the San Antonio Silver Stars was the second game in two days, and the fourth game in six nights overall for the Mercury. It couldn't have come at a better time. The Mercury won the game, defeating the Silver Stars, 91-57...
