Well, I think this is the news that you're talking about, but I'll just post it here for others:

Taurasi will sit out the game as Phoenix doctors continue to assess a right knee injury the guard sustained Wednesday in a win over Charlotte, Mercury GM Seth Sulka said Friday.

Since the injury -- which Taurasi suffered while attempting a lob in the first half Wednesday -- Taurasi has undergone an MRI. The knee remains fairly swollen, however, and Sulka couldn't elaborate on any initial diagnosis. There is some concern, he said, that the ligament toward the back of the knee, the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), might have sustained some damage.

Still, Taurasi not only walked off the court after the injury but also returned and played several minutes of the second half, finishing with 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 31 minutes. Though she sat out most of the game's final 10 minutes, it was hard to tell if Taurasi's knee troubled her or if she was just able to rest since the Mercury won running away, 82-62.

"Diana obviously wants to play, but it's in her best interest to give the knee a chance to rest," said Sulka, who expected coach Carrie Graf to start Shereka Wright in Taurasi's place.

I have not seen anything else from the news or anything, but I think right now they are just being cautious. I wouldn't have known that she was hurt if not for this. She seemed to have faired well from the last game, and there was no mention of this injury in the news. It's all quite sudden to me.

I don't think much was said during the game because Dee was feeling okay. When she came out of the game at the end, the trainer came over and asked her how she was and at the time she felt fine. But when she got up the next day, she couldn't move it.

I think the rest between now and the New York game will be good for her and she will be ready to play on Thursday. I could be wrong and hope it isn't more serious.

I was looking through the schedule and was glad that they don't play again till Thursday. I really do hope everything is okay, and that it is just a bruise. I hope it's not serious as an ACL or PCL injury or whatever, although I understand why the doctors maybe concerned because that is how these things usually occur... you feel fine right after, and then the next day the pain occurs.

Awesome job by the Merc though to pull together a win :) They really needed that one.

Anyone have any idea of whether she'll be back for the NY game? I read something that said she should be back, but it was only in one article. Some people on this board seem to have a bit more knowledge into the Mercury team, so has anyone heard anything?

I may be alone here, but I am glad the team played (and won) without Diana. She was injured, but she needed rest regardless, after playing significant minutes (plus extra travel time for the All Star festivities). With the break before the New York game, she should be rejuvinated, which will only help Phoenix.

The win also demonstrated to Penny Taylor the need for her to take double-digit shots, the abilities of Maria Stepanova, and how important Step and Vodi are to Phoenix.

You're not alone....but you're not our spokesperson either.

I totally agree. I would only add that I thought Anna stepped up too in a leadership role last game. She and Penny came out strong to start the game. And with Alana tatooed to her, she didn't do much else offensively until the Mystics went into foul mode at the end, but I thought she provided good leadership out there.

Anna had a painful fall and her stats still show a good solid game of 16 pts, 6 rbds and 1 ast with only 2 TO.

We played well without Dee. I think knowing that she wasn't going to play, put everyone into an offensive mode. Also we moved a little more without the ball and no one was standing around waiting for her to create.

The start of the second half, we stood around awhile and let Washington back into the game. We need to eliminate these lapses and learn to finish off a team, a better team would have taken advantage and tried to crush us.

seems the team proved something to themselves last game. However, the 2nd half started like teams of old - remember.... when we'd all ask who came out wearing the Merc jerseys and where was the real team!! When DT comes back, maybe the 'big 3' will be the 'big 3' again.
