Pathetic pathetic pathetic! If the Mercury want to go down the same road, then Kempton is the man for the job! Why do we pick all of the coaches who have had little or no success in the WNBA? Blah!...Shumate is the answer we need. Not only was Shumate a better broadcaster, but he'll be a better coach! :x I would love to see an articles written about Shumate by one of the Jeff's. We need a coach who will pick this team up from the ashes, not a coach looking to prove themselfs.

If Shumate becomes coach and doesn't do well... well the reaction of certain boardsters would be interesting.

I don't really care who becomes coach as long as they know what they're doing.

Slightly OT, apparently if Drexler wants the Fire coaching job, he's got it.

Kempton isn't seriously being considered, I would guess.

Would also venture to guess that the Suns won't let Shumate do both jobs (scout for the Suns and head coach the Mercury).

My hope, guess/prediction at this time is that Carrie Graf will be the next head coach of the Mercury.

A Tribune article today stated that Seth interviewed Kempton, is most comfortable with Graf, and will travel to Dallas and Minneapolis to interview Leiberman and Agler respectively. Also states he plans contact Houston assistant Kevin Cook and Portland assistant Tom Newell, who was let go with head coach Linda Hargrove.

Again, my hope and prediction is for Graf to end up the next coach.
Also hope we have a winning season and playoff birth to show we should have picked her two years ago.

Interesting question: would a combination of Graf as head coach and Shumate as assistant work?

As much as the fans love Timmsy, I bet she would like to return to braodcasting and community relations rather than assistant coach.
