From the dot com.
Quote: So many Americans think that we are stupid because we don't seak English, but we are not stupid. We just don't know your language. Of course, we can read body language... and it tells a lot (laughs)."
Couldn't agree more, I think that goes for a lot of english speaking nations. With my parents both coming from Europe there have been many times I have not liked the way they have been spoken to because they have accents or might get the odd word wrong here or there.
Quote: So I had a lot of time to get used to the idea of going to Phoenix, but I'm happy I'm here and really like the team. They treat me very, very, very, very, very well and the fans totally welcomed me.
With tim tams, caune? :P |

We talked about that *a lot* in one of my classes last year, the teacher happened to be married to an Asian woman. American's tend to think people are dumb because the speak english with an accent, completely forgetting that they *might* be really smart because they can speak more than one language...
My problem, whenever I here someone speak with an accent, and kind of miss a few words, I always think it's really cute..and I don't know if thats much better, but I can't help it. |

Only if Penny shared;)
Or maybe Dee shared some of those Violet Crumbles with her...that is why she score 28 points the other night, LOL, the power of Violet
I still have many tim tams to distribute but it's been a tad hot (like 110 or worse) to be dragging all those cookies around.
I will be taking some on the LA roaund trip though so maybe K will get some soon  |

I know a lot of people think that way, to their detriment. They also notice that many who speak English as a second (or third or fourth) language speak slowly. That is only because they are choosing words carefully and trying to mentally translate into and from the language they think in.
Travelling, like I did in my Army years, is very good at disabusing one of the notion that those who do not speak perfect English are not very bright. Often it is the monolingual American who is the least bright... |

Knowing more than one language is very helpful. it gives you a different perspective. I truly admire those who can easly pick up another language. And we do have many players that can speak more than one. :D Concidering that a lot of Americans don't speak anything close to proper/perfict english, I thing that's a good thing.
