I dare the Mercury to prove me wrong but this season is history.

Just like every other team in the Valley Of The Sun maybe next year !

Damn. So soon? Could have sworn I have tix for lots more
games around here somewhere. :)

Why I'm not giving up yet.

2 Western Conf teams with 18-16 records made the playoffs last year.
(not to mention that was the best record in the East and 17/17 was
go enough there to go to the Playoffs)

We still have 14 home games and 2 away games with SASS. (If we can't
beat any team at home, we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs
anyway). So until we start losing at homes, I'm willing to be Pollyanna
and assume that those are 14+ Ws.

On the other hand, maybe you've got other plans for the summer.

Didn't we lose our first two games at home???

We're in a hole and the ladies have shown no signs of climbing out. Hopefully they'll show us their heart on Saturday.

I'm sure many had given up on the 1-10 Sting too.

Yes, we've lost two at home, but we've picked up two on the
road. We are at par, holding our serve, losing our losers early,
pick you alternative game metaphor.

What's gained by giving up?

Are we losing time that we could be using to develop bench players?
Should we focusing on the draft lottery?

What do you think characterizes a great competitor?
Taurasi: "Someone that never gives up. Whether your up 20 or down 20, you always have the same attitude toward your teammates and still have that same attitude to win."

I venture to say that that Taurasi quote was not given recently. I think the entire team needs to revisit it though.

Don't get me wrong, I love this team and the game. It's just that, reality is starting to set in a little bit. Although, I have been thinking about that Sting team (1-10) an awful lot lately also. Maybe it's self preservation, my heart can't take it. But I will be there for every home stand regardless.

Oh goodness, my apologies to the LADIES, I did not mean to call you lasies, even if some of the team is playing like dogs, doh

My bold prediction...this team wins 15 games. Might not make the playoffs, but not going down without a fight. 14 home games remaining helps the won-loss record quite a bit...

That being said, we are inching closer to desperation. At this point, we, as fans, have to do everything we can to help the team. I volunteer to sleep with the male referees...which means the players aren't the only ones inching closer to desperation. :D
