Heard this odd rumor, just wanted to know if there's anyone who has heard the same thing. Heard it from someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, etc.
Rumor - the Merc are being shopped to interested buyers in other cities.

| This was the conspiracy theory du jour with the group of people I went to a pre-season game with. Specifically, that the Merc needs to get their attendance up because the new owner wants to get rid of the team and that that was the real reason they got rid of the two women owners. (I think I need new basketball friends so I don't have to listen to this kind of crap when I'm trying to watch a game.) I chalked it up to paranoid hysteria but, who knows, maybe they were right. I'll be seriously bummed if it is true. |

I doubt this is the case. The last thing I heard from Mercury management was that Sarver was committed to making the Mercury work and excited about having the team. I don't think he is the type of person to get overly excited that the team hasn't started their winning streak yet. And I don't think he would react so quickly or rashly if he was.
I am disappointed, however, that the game between the Mercury and Sarver's management team hasn't happened. :cry:
1carol, I doubt this has anything to do with our team performance. First of all, if this were true, it is very unlikely that the players would know any more about it than we would. It is easy to forget this is a business and this type of thing would be a business decision. Most employees are NOT privey to ownership decisions in any business. Same goes for trades. A player might think they are "trade bait" based on the media reports or fan rumors, but they rarely to never know about it until the deed is done. |

I agree with everyone...... I hope its really a bad rumor.
Caune - good idea enlisting a certain lawyer.... maybe he can confirm that this should die quickly. :lol:
Also, I heard that the reason the 2 women are no longer minority owners had a lot to do with the 'management communication style' of one of them.

I wasn't really being serious above^
I don't think the rumor could be true because:
1. Rumors have been floating since Sarver bought the team.
2. Seth says Sarver "wants" the Mercury. He hasn't failed in business B4 & won't because he doesn't give up.
3. There's a lot of this season left. The players are over analizing themselves even more than we are and it causes loss of confidence
4. Players are just frustrated by late start of complete team and unfortunately it takes time to build chemistry
5. Someone in the Brigade would have heard whispers. << highlight |

I would be truly upset if the Merc left PHX, and I don't even live there anymore. (LOL) Phoenix is such a great basketball town, especially compared to Atlanta, (hawks...blech..)
