I wouldn't base any expectations on the presence of the data file. The updated looks come from the style sheet.
Witness thus ...

... who is a little tied up with a Merc-level difficult job in SC.
She *did* punch Byears, though, which is a good thing. :) |

Thanks, 1C, although I've been back in the States since last fall, slugging it out at UVA.
I hear we're doing dinner when we come? That'll be great!
Let's hope the season looks a little brighter when we get there. I'm sorta hoping the 110 degree days are toned down a little, too. but I guess that's a lot to ask. I'd settle for a Merc win.
I got your addy from AP, so I'll stay in touch there, as I gather that's best for you. :)
See you soon, armed with game charts.

So let's see....we've got ourselves a 6-8 Russian who reportedly hasn't played ball in 7 weeks, speaks little English (if I recall from her previous stint with the Mercury), is coming into town a month into the season, and will cost one of the ladies who has been busting her butt since training camp a job. This should be GREAT for the already superb team chemistry!
For the sake of this team and Mr. Sulka's credibility, I sure hope this little experiment pays off. And I also hope the rumors that she'd be leaving right around crunch time - if we do manage to claw back into playoff contention - are false. |

| So, her luggage, it was a whole bunch of suitcases or a weekend getaway bag? |

Don't know, there was a bar by the arrival gate. The plane was late, we
had already ordered our first round, and nobody felt like leaving the bar to
hang out in the baggage claim area. Really, all that I can tell you, is
she is tall, blond, and was wearing this dangly thing from her belly button.
I failed the what color clothes was she wearing quiz later, and you want
details on her luggage? The dangly thing was white, though, hope that
helps. |

Oh, thank God it was white! If it comes back any other color, she's up the stump.
Thanks for the info. Her not being in a wheelchair is huge, just a major plus.
Can't coach 6'8. |

decisions have to be made this week -
anyone know how serious Gwen's knee injury is? If its the infamous ACL would she be done for the season? If so....... does she get cut - literally and roster-wise - and Maria take her spot. Then she heals and tries again next year? |

You know... somehow 6'-8" is hard to teach, let alone practice.
I do believe that she WILL make a difference.

Any truth to this that NL reported on her ESPN.com column regarding Maria's availability for the rest of the season -
Quote: Hopefully, Maria Stepanova can add something to Phoenix's frontcourt. The 6-foot-8 center from Russia, who hasn't played in the WNBA since 2001, is expected to make her debut in the Mercury's game Saturday at Los Angeles. The good news is that Stepanova is a savvy veteran who has the potential to bolster Phoenix's inside game.
However, Stepanova is reportedly available only through the end of July and will not finish the season, which raises more questions than answers. How much of an impact can she make in a month, and how will her presence affect team chemistry? Someone's minutes obviously will suffer while Stepanova is in Phoenix, and how will the team adjust once she's gone again?
How much of an impact would Maria make in a partial season, if it's true? |

The word all along was that she had to be back in Russia by August 15th at the latest.
Talk about a case of "make hay while the sun shines" huh |
