- Need a win overall
- Need a win against a Western Conference team
- Need a win to catch pace with Minnesota, LA, etc., who are just ahead of us.
- Need to develop confidence to pull out tight games, something we could not do against Sacramento (the first game) and Indiana. |

This is an important game for both teams who in some ways have followed eerily similar tracts this season. Chemistry, balance and poise down the stretch have been sticking points along the way but both teams are putting the pieces together now.
A plus for the Mercury is how banged up the Silver Stars are. Latoya Thomas dislocated her arm last game and probably won't see action on Wednesday and she's always had good games against the Mercury. On the not-so-plus side is the coaching staff for the Stars; Brian Agler knows all of our plays backwards and forwards and Sandy Brondello may know a few tricks about how to slow down Penny. On top of that, the Stars are buying into Dan Hughes' defense-creates-offense philosophy and they have the jets in Shannon Johnson and Marie Ferdinand to push tempo in transition.
Katie Feenstra is having an excellent rookie season thus far and her confidence is growing with each outing. I think that if we can find a way to neutralize her by getting her in foul trouble, we should be okay.
All in all, I'm expecting an entertaining afternoon of flat out hustle basketball. |

I hope we win. That would be cool.

| I hope Graf subs a bit this game..Just a couple minutes in the second half for the big three..maybe that is part of the reason for the Merc's inability to finish games..(although this season has been better..whenever the merc have had the lead in the late minutes of the ball game, they've won..the problem was getting the lead...) |
