We will need to steal some road victories in the early part of the season.
Expect the Mercury to show up for the first half of this game, rather than the poor shooting imposters from last Saturday.

The earliest? I thought it was June 2nd at the latest!
That hurts.
Hope Plenette is OK for tonight at least. 0-2 would not be a good start. |

| Make our shots and box out and we'll reverse the preseason results. Indiana also has small guards so we should post Diana and Belinda up against them. Also, keep your hands to yourselves  |

Hey, can someone tell me what Catchings did to draw the Technical foul?

She played only minor minutes last game, so with Plenette back tonight I guess all of Sandora's potential time disappeared.
Seems like she must still be in learning mode with the Mercury, and will be eased gradually into the rotation when they think she's ready.
(So get your butt over here, KV, we need ya!) |

| Sandora's not injured. But you'd think by playing against teams that are strong in the post, like SAC and CHA, that she'd find her way in the rotation to get her some minutes during the game to get her legs under her. At least she can get into games and get rebounds and block some shots like she did in the pre-seasoon games, right? |

I wasn't able to listen to the game or follow it during the play. I was at the arena watching our other team lose.
I think there are some real positives for our team looking at the stats. We out rebounded this team and out scored them in the paint. We lost this game on fouls and turnovers (some of the turnovers were tied to fouls). I would like to see more assists for our team too, but I doubt that was a factor in this game.
It looks like the game was close for the most part. I think that is the main reason Sandora didn't play. Rebounding wise, Phoenix's posts more than held their own. Defensively it looks like Sandora may have been a help but I have a tendency to believe that a veteran player like Nat Williams would take Irvin to lunch. I know she is your girl, Gil and can appreciate you standing by her. I wouldn't expect any less. But I am glad Phoenix is taking their time with her. At some point she may need to be thrown to the wolves, but right now while we are short handed and still in games, we can not afford rookie mistakes. |

| If nothing else, Irvin has 5 fouls to burn against posts like Nat Williams. Besides, we ain't talkin' about liver mush, this is the woman who just set a NCAA record for blocked shots in a season. Play her! Irvin could be a dominant center if she was given a chance! |

This certainly sounds like a true harbinger of summer! If your dancing doesn't bring hurricanes to Carolina, maybe it will help get the Mercury into the win column! :D |

| I watched the game last night on the WNBA Broadband deal (it's pretty cool actually especially since it's free and they're showing the Charlotte game tomorrow) and it was really really frustrating to see them close the gap after being down 8 most of the second half only to let it slip away, again. Indiana is always a tough match-up for us because of their athleticism but our rebounding was a real bright spot. Good work by Kayte on the boards and Ashley in the paint. Great seeing Plenette back in action too. She's a real warrior out there. |

Sandora Irvin has had the stomach flu and has not practiced. |

| I was at the Indy game. They should have played P. Pierson more in the 1st half-she played a great 2nd half! They lost that game because they couldn't stop Tamika Catchings. She always finds a way to beat the Mercury, plus she seems to get all the calls from the refs. I was so disappointed when I walked in and didn't see Penny. I definitely think they would have won with her-they needed another scorer-Shareka Wright did absolutely nothing in that game. Also, that was the best I've ever seen Ashley Robinson play( I think even at Tennessee!) I sure hope they can beat Charlotte-they can't afford to go 0-3 in the tough western conference. |
