No more Jae

We can sign one of the waived players if we need to, if they aren't picked up.

Lets be frank...if we lose Taurasi, DeForge, or Penny, we are going to be sunk anyway! A marginal backup isn't going to help. If we need to, one will be available if someone goes down.

Offense still wins games. The players we are keeping are the best basketball players.

Okay so the roster is:
Kayte
Anna
Shereka
Sandora
Gwen
Plenette
A-Rob
Belinda
Dee
Penny
Kamila
and
Angie
with a space left open for she who we hope will show up eventually, right?

But no back-up point guard. And what happens when Dee fouls out of games because of the hand check rule and those refs who don't particularly like her? I'm not knocking this line-up. It's good, lots of all-star calibre talent. I'm just asking about a practical matter.

I think this roster has a lot of flexibility. Time will tell if it hurts us or not, but I am betting on the not.

The Suns (Shawn Marion primarially) have proven this season that you don't have to play your true position to be effective. Your could make the arguement that they have a great floor general...but so do the Mercury. The question is asked...what is Taurasi is not in the game? Well, the Suns were hanging on barely last Wednesday when Steve Nash had to take a rest. Jim Jackson became the point guard and went off for 15 points and created a lead that Dallas couldn't overcome.

I think the one factor that makes this work, besides our flexibility, is that we have one of the best X's and O's coach in the game. It is up to the players to step up and perform and I have a lot of faith that they will.

Dot com has updated its transactions to reflect the signing of Lisa Harrison.

I am not sure of the length, but Harrison signed a guaranteed contract last year or the year before. If I am correct, she is going to be paid regardless...and if she cannot play, she can resume her role as an assistant coach.

Okay, so they just signed Lisa at the 11th hour. What does that mean?

Quote: Second-year Mercury coach Carrie Graf, who also has seven years experience as a head coach in the Australian professional league, said these were the toughest cuts she’s ever had to make.

"I think so. Particularly since we cut three people who were part of our team last year," Graf said.

"We made these decisions in part based on the young talent we added to our group."

Draft picks Sandora Irvin and Angelina Williams both made the team as did freeagent signees Vodichkova and Belinda Snell.

Sulka said he wouldn’t be surprised to see those players cut hook on with other teams in the near future.

"These moves speak to the depth on this team and the depth in this league," Sulka said. "They’ve all shown they can play in this league."
