SAC 34 PHX 32 halftime

DT 7pts, AD 10 pts, PP 5 rbs, GJ 4 rbs

AR 3 fouls w/i 5 min, RW missed 3 ft in a row

PHX 10-25, 40% fg
SAC 13-38, 34.2% fg

RB: SAC leads 19-16, TO: PHX 9, SAC 8

Both teams 3-8 on 3pt fg

How do they have 13 more shot attempts?

Easy... they had 9 offensive rebounds to our 1... Shout out to my girl Plenette, with the 1 offensive board and well on her way to double digit rebounds! :)

Thanks...what I expected, yet haven't watched close enough to track offensive rebounds.

Yes, glad to see Plenette aggressive on the boards.

Both teams shooting better from three than overall...sad.

PHX 72 SAC 70

While Diana and Anna had the well rounded games we've come to expect, it was Plenette who made the win happen, as I read the play-by-play.

She made a couple key free throws, grabbed a key rebound, and had a crucial steal...all towards the end of the game. Clutch three by Anna as well.

Rebounding in the second half was key.

Stat that truly sticks out: Tamara 4 assists in 9 minutes!

Keegs on RebKell board:
Quote: GO SHOT HOGS.

Well done to both of them - they took the Merc on their shoulders and brought them home.

P.S Hurry back Penny, Kamila and Jae.

Yes, TO's need reduced and we'll need more shots from posts to go to (and through) the playoffs.

Points in the paint: PHX 22, SAC 36
At least we got to the charity stripe.

It appears our posts rebounded and played defense...their in the paint points must have come from perimeter penetration.

Sandora is giving Ashley Robinson reason to compete. A-Rob had 4 rebounds & 3 blocked shots tonight. In fact Sandora has brought out the formerly non-existant rebounds in others too. Plenette 8 and Gwen 8 also.

Tried out Courtside Live tonight. Great play by play & much faster than the WNBA HTML version that has an update every 2 minutes, which I also had up to compare.
The only problem with the audio part was it's broadcasting of the final game of last season  I sure hope that gets fixed soon.

I had the same thought when I saw A-Rob's stats. A little healthy competition is good for the team - bring out everyone's best.

Reading about it's great, but MAN! Am I the only one who can hardly sit still until Sunday?

Who's sitting still? That's why we're on the boards so much  Hungry for any bit of news we can get

It appears Sacramento's Nicole Powell is determined to prove herself too. Especially when compared to Kara who also had the high points of their game. I'm glad to see a local girl do well. Trudi Lacey wasted NP's talent on Charlotte's bench last year.
PLAYER ..............MIN FG 3PT.. FT RB AS PF PT
NICOLE POWELL 23 3-9 2-6 2-3 4 ...0.. 1 10
KARA LAWSON.... 28 4-9 2-4 0-0 0 ...1.. 2 10

html doesn't show blocks or TO's
tonight's box score:
http://www.wnba.com/games/20050512/PHOSAC/boxscore.html

When Kamila and Penny arrive, it will get interesting:
Shereka started, yet only had 7 minutes...hope she's not injured.

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=41223
Notes: Villoreal (sp?) has already been waived.
Stepanova may make it here before Tuvic.

Time to start a final roster thread? Nah, it can wait 'til after Sunday.
Tonight's specualtion:

PG: Taurasi, Moore

SG: DeForge, Snell

SF: P. Taylor, A. Williams

PF: P. Peirson, G. Jackson

C: Vodichkova, Irvin

IR?: Christensen, Cross

Cut: R. Williams, L. Taylor
with Penny and Kamila arriving late, only one must be cut...who goes?

Fight for a spot??: Wright, Robinson
Gosh, I hate to see anyone go...I really like these young athletes.

It will be hard to keep both Angelina Williams and Shereka Wright. Wright has a better basketball mind, but Williams' athleticism is just sick...and Angelina has better upside (whether she reaches her potential is what the gamble is).

It will also come down to Robinson vs. Christensen. We will likely keep five post players...Sandora Irvin, Gwen Jackson, Plenette Pierson, and Kamila Vodichkova are four of them. The last spot will be between Ashley and Kayte.

Just the analysis I was looking for Cam...we concur.

One might suspect the second IR spot (tendinitus of whatever) would go to a post over a wing?

From mommabristow on the ESPN board:

Quote: Good game. I'm loving Nicole Powell already, what a freakin combo out there with K-Law! Outside shooting! Powell swished at least two other 3balls, but they were waived off for foul calls or whatever. Didn't matter, it was nice to see a forward take and make outside shots.

It was an exciting game. Two techs whistled. One for Chantelle Anderson for giving a nice after-the-play shove to a Phx post (don't remember who) and one to Taurasi for mouthin' at the ref after a call she didn't agree with.

FTs and TOs were in preseason form, ugly, but that's to be expected. When you get fouled on a 3pt shot you should be able to AT LEAST go 1/3 though!

Yo, Demya, and Brunson barely played. Demya didn't even enter the game in the first half. Feifei didn't play cause of a thigh bruise suffered against the Chinese team. Miao, Haynie, Newton, Greenwalt, and Buescher all played well. This team's not looking too bad, and we don't even have our Floor General yet (and might not have her at AWA for the opener either).

Any unwanted Merc players will be welcomed with open arms by the mightly Lynx of Perth. I'll send them a box of violet crumbles every month for a year in return.

It's hard to get excited about winning this one when you see the lineup Sac had on the floor, but the boards went our way and a win is always better than a loss :)

The distribution of minutes tells me that we have all but made up our mind about who is staying.
The more pre-season minutes Snelly can get under her belt the better, so I'm definitely pleased to see her racking up so much time. I guess she is helped by Penny being away.

And I'll happily match every donated box of vc's with a box of tim tams.
I'm thinking Angelina & Shereka could both do with a summer down under :)

Yes, Yolanda Griffith and DeMya Walker did not play that much...and Ticha wasn't there.

Still, we were missing Penny Taylor and Kamila Vodichkova. It evens out (sort of).
