Given the BALCO scandal and her recent track performances, perhaps it is time to give Marion Jones a call. The 5-11 point guard was incredible at UNC (and it takes a lot for this Duke grad to say that). At her best, she would provide the tremendous court presence, incredible up and down, as well as lateral speed, and give the team an athletic perimeter defender.
We have her rights per the 2003 WNBA Draft...just haven't checked the CBA lately to find out if and/or when the rights extinguish. |

Ms. Jones did recently win a race, though you're right that her performances before it were un-Marion-like.
I think it'd be great to have her, too, but she probably wants to prove she can win in track even under such great 'roids-related scruitiny. And prove that even if she did use, she doesn't now and can still win.
Maybe another year or two? |

Saw that after I made this post. She finished last in a race last week in the 400...then ran 11.28 to win in Martinique (comparatively slow for a runner whose best time is 10.65 and who dominated the event from 1998 until 2002). |

Marion Jones' invitation to run in Paris on Sunday was withdrawn because organizers wanted to follow the practice established by other European meets.
Jones was to compete in the 200 meters at the Essone meet. |
