Quote: Shots in the Dark? L.S.U.'s Star Has Made Them
By Jere Longman
BATON ROUGE, La., Nov. 13 - She learned to see the whole court by wearing special glasses that forced her to look out, not down. She learned dexterity in her dribbling by wearing a bandanna over her eyes, and by having one arm, then the other, trussed behind her back with a belt or duct tape. She learned to shoot by wearing a bowling glove that forced the ball onto her fingertips and out of her palm.
By age 9, Seimone Augustus had become a national finalist in a free-throw competition sponsored by the Elks Club. In high school, she led Capitol High of Baton Rouge to two state championships.
Coaches Debbie Ryan of Virginia and Kim Mulkey-Robertson of Baylor said that when they held up a mirror to Augustus, they saw a shadowy reflection of Cheryl Miller, the former Southern Cal star. |

Great stuff...thanks for the link.
Yet another reminder to screen the movie The Pistol, the Pete Maravich story. |
