Well, that would have been my guess! I hope that's not the case, and that she'll make it back in time for the Tourney.
If it is an illness, I would agree that it must be contagious if she's not traveling with the team.
Too bad we lost to the Tree's last night, but it was our best game of the year vs. them.

You know it was scary last night when Buckner started chucking up shots. I felt bad when she had one go down and then come back out. It was as if the rim wasn't taking any sh-t.
The Devils hustled but just couldn't buy a basket. Oh to have some consistent offense.
Go Devils, go deep into the dance! |

Thanks Keegs
WOW - Next season at ASU is going to be really exciting.
Charli has signed some really exceptional 2004-05 freshman & Jill Noe will be healthy for the 1st time in 2 yrs
Speaks well for Coach Turner-Thorne sticking up for Thompson & reassuring her family.
The Mercury could sure use a Kirsten Thompson |

| She sounds like exactly what the Devils need. A big willing to mix it up. Now only if Charli will play her more than 20 minutes. |

That's good to see, I didn't notice any line changes at all. What I wonder is if the players can handle more minutes because throughout the season they never really played more than 20 or so.
Is it a strategy to keep the legs fresh for tourney time? |

That's what I'm thinking.
I didn't realize Pariseau hadn't played at all against Stanford, even for relief. Charli used her so much during regular season, she must be saving her. The other 2 not playing is no surprise. I just realized Jaqueline Johnson wasn't on that roster. I don't recall if they announced her as ill/injured or not. |

Seems like I read that J. Johnson had a mild stress fracture a few weeks ago.

That game was downright ugly.
Buckner held Wiggins below average, yet Carrie's defense is severely overrated when accounting for her lack of offense.
She shot 2 of 10, yet passed up numerous looks from 12-15 feet. The defense sagged off her to double the posts.
She's only taken two three pointers all season (something like that) and she's supposed to be a two guard?
Stagg gained minutes towards the end of the season. She was slotted as a three. My suggestion would have been to utilize her at the two guard and plant Bucker on the bench. Buckner's only scores are lay-ups off steals and she even misses lay-ups and free throws. Great defense simply can not compensate the lack of offense IMHO.
Kylan had an off game, as our point guards were frustrated.
Hopefully the team can gel in the tourney.
Next year holds some great promise for this team. |

thanks Ms Fred - JJ's athleticism alone gave her huge potential for basketball, but if her heart's not in it, everyone is better off with her running track |

from an ASU email for season ticket holders Quote: DEVEL'S DOMAIN
The Arizona State women's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the Pac-10 preseason coaches' poll, it was announced Friday by the league office.
Five-time defending Conference champion Stanford has been voted as the favorite to win this year's Pac-10 women's basketball title. The Cardinal received nine of 10 first-place votes as USC received the remaining first-place nod.
Ending the season with a NCAA second round appearance, USC tallied 70 points to place second. ASU was tabbed to finish third with 62 points, followed closely by UCLA with 60 points for the fourth-place slot. OREGON just beat out ARIZONA for fifth place with 43 points, while the Wildcats notched 42 for sixth place.
Arizona State secured its first Sweet Sixteen spot in 22 years last year, falling to No. 1 seed North Carolina in the Tempe Regional. The Sun Devils finished the season ranked No. 16 in the USA Today/ESPN WBCA coaches' poll, the highest ranking for ASU since the 1983-84 season.
Five Pac-10 teams competed in the 2005 NCAA Tournament (Stanford, Arizona State, USC, Oregon, Arizona), third-most among the major conferences, and those five teams each logged 20-win seasons. It was the first time in 13 years and second time in history that the Conference boasted five 20-win teams.
Following are the results of the preseason coaches' poll; coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams (points 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, first place votes are in parentheses):
2005-06 PAC-10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACHES' POLL
Ranking Team Points

2 USC (1) 70
3 Arizona State 62
4 UCLA 60
5 Oregon 43
6 Arizona 42
7 Washington 36

Nov. 1, 2005
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University's women's basketball exhibition game versus the Australian Team on Sunday will be free to the public according to an announcement by the ASU Athletic Department on Tuesday.

"This will be a great opportunity for our fans to come out and get a preview of what should be an exciting season," said ASU head coach Charli Turner Thorne.
