Macchi has been placed on suspended status, meaning she will not play for the Sparks for the rest of the season.
She was instrumental in keeping the Sparks at the top of the Western Conference, after DeLisha Milton-Jones' season-ending injury. This will hurt Los Angeles a great deal because she was a 6-1 wing who could also play some in the post. Without her, there is one less perimeter threat. It also means Tamika Whitmore will have to start at power forward. |

| Any reason as to why she was placed on the suspended list? |

| The suspended list is used for players who aren't going to play that season...or for the remainder of the season. However, the team can reserve the right to bring the player back (e.g., for the playoffs), provided they do so by a certain date. Basically, it allows LA to keep the player's rights, retain the possibility that the player may still play for part of the season, but not have to pay the player...which means no more money counting against the cap. For a cap-strapped team like LA, the last part is key, especially since they had to add a player (Coker) to have more than 8 on the roster. |

| I noticed it was both Italians that are suspended. If Milton's on IR it would seem they have room without the roster move, unless they have other things going on. |

Mercurymaniac, the issue isn't room on the IR. The issue is room on the roster...as in SALARY CAP room. Milton-Jones makes over 70,000. Leslie and Mabika are at the max. Dixon is around 70,000. Teasley is over 60,000. LA still has to pay Milton-Jones because she is on the IR, not suspended. LA was a cap-strapped to begin with, plus they had to add another player. Taking Macchi and Masciardi off the books means $60,000 to play with. |

| Not having Macchi is huge. Who's this Coker? |
