Penny Taylor is on fire! Looks like Lo-Jack got in a little foul worries.

Penny had 26 pts and 10 rebounds and Austraila pulled away in the fourth.
Maria had 3 pts and 5 fouls, ouch!

I'm just not seeing what Stepanova is going to do for us after the break...

DT was in attendance at this game, sitting a few seats away from a friend of mine who was also there.

Nice to see Penny turned it on for her.

Maria was unimpressive. She put a move on Rachael Sporn but she does have a 7 inch height advantage over Rachael ;)

Penny lived up to my nickname of her.

Go Opals!

Would be nice to get a few highlights from NBC especially since several WNBA players play for the Opals and all of the former Mercury players.

Oh that's right ABC has the WNBA tv rights. But if the men keep underachieving we might get more women's hoop

That's what I'm hoping for. The US is getting embarassed by our men. Just maybe NBC will wise up & give us more women's hoops.

*warning* hint alert
It would be greatly appreciated if our Aussie friends could tape a couple of their major games for us... she begs humbly. We could have a watching Aussie game party when DD & Keegs come to the US.

I am taping what I can, but so far the basketball coverage has been pathetic!
The secondary broadcaster is doing a great job of showing the "lower-profile" games, but the Opals & Team USA have barely had a look-in. Hopefully things improve as the tournament progresses.
Penny hit 26 points yesterday. I didn't see a single one of them

We can tape Russia v Brazil for you guys - and that single game shown on SBS alone will have a longer running time then all the Opals games shown on Ch7!

and here i am complaining about foreign soccer coverage
oh! i did get to see your Aussie women play soccer!
but that doesn't really count...

great idea 1carol about the aussie viewing party :!:

Well the good news is, since 6-8 games worth of footage would have made for a *very* long viewing party, at least our official olympic network has trimmed it down for us, leaving us plenty of spare time to play musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey ;)

VB Vital Statistics:

Victoria Bitter
Australia’s favourite full strength beer, Victoria Bitter or VB as it’s fondly known, has a tradition of rewarding hard work and hard play, dating back to the 1890s. Over the last 10 years, it’s been a consistent winner in the esteemed Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA), more recently picking up “Best Full Strength Beer” in 2001, “Tap Beer of the Year” in 2002, and “Best Full Strength Beer” again in 2003.VB is a full flavoured brew, less malty in character and slightly darker than CUB’s traditional lagers. A gentle fruitiness in the aroma complements the sweet malt on the mid-palate balancing perfectly with a robust, hop bitterness.

Style: full strength bitter lager
Alcohol: 4.9%
Carbs: 3.1 grams/100mL
Energy: 168 kilojoules/100mL; 40 calories/100mL
Standard drinks: 1.4 per 375mL, 3.1 per 800mL
Available: on tap, 250mL, 375mL and 800mL bottles and 375mL cans
