But you have to love the name Melinda Twitt
The Roos will bounce back. This is the first field hockey game that I have ever seen. It's a wonder they don't wear helmets. |

| Australia was very mediocre in that game. Defensive intensity and boxing out was non-existent. Thank the deities that Nigeria couldn't guard LJ. |

USA women just defeated Autralia in Softball 10-0 on Bravo
Same time on CNBC the Argentina men beat Serbia-Mintenegro in an excellent buzzer beater by Dee's idol Mano Ginoble.
Excellent coverage so far by NBC!
BTW Carol if you catch any of those Ops basketball games can you tape them? Thx |

Coverage has been great. But 1carol I have a feeling the only Aussie games you are going to get is if they are playing the US unless you have a satellite feed from elsewhere.
I did get to see a water polo match this moring. |

I'm taping every game I can find with AUS, Russia or USA on 2 recorders so one can be sent to others. Problem is, I can't find any unless they're playing USA. It's starting to look like all we'll get taped is the finals. I'm hoping the playoff between (I'm assuming) AUS vs Russia will be on TV here.
I'll keep a lookout & tape what I can. Anybody hears about scheduled TV (other than US) games in US, please let me know! |

I believe Aus/Brazil is the only non-US round robin game to be broadcast on US television.
I'll find the listing. |

my event (not TV) schedule has AUS/Greece Fri 8/20 at 8pm Athens
Brazil/Aus Sun. 9/22 at 2:30pm Athens time
This is 10 hours ahead of Arizona so that s/b 6pm & 12:30pm respectively right?
I'll keep an eye out for your Greece game & tape Brazil for sure. I'm usually home during the day whereas Caune is working so it's much easier for me to tape. It's a shame you don't get to see more Olympic basketball over there. |

Quote: What is wrong with Aussie TV?
Hmm... where do I start?... Unfortunately our most backward tv network is the official olympic broadcaster
Quote: Do they cover the men's games?
Coverage of all basketball has been pretty hopeless so far. They did make a big song & dance about last night's men's game against the USA though, and covered the entire game. The aussies put in a pretty good performance too, considering the crappy team we have at the moment, so I'm hoping it rated well and will encourage more basketball to be shown.
Even though the Opals are actually winning, they receive far less air time than the men.
Hopefully things will change for the better as we move into the second week. Once the track & field (which Australia is hopeless in) is into full swing, we should have a lot fewer distractions compared to swimming week.
For the men it is probably moot though, as I don't expect them to reach the next stage of competition. |

Hey DD -
I found the TV schedule for the Brazil/AUS game. It will be taped!!
As the China/USA game will be taped
My TV schedule doesn't go past our Sunday 8/22
All I have so far is Tues 8/24 Clasification Finals
9am Athens time 11th/12th place A6 - B6
11:15am 9th/10th Place A5 - B5
After that everything is listed as TBD - no teams, no times
I must force myself into patience mode.
That is very difficult to do  |

Three gold for the Aussies today! Grant, Petria and Jodie - awesome.
For those thinking of taping the Aus/Brazil game - apparently it will be at 9 am ET on CNBC. 7:30 is the apparent start time of the game in Athens but it will be on tape delay or something. |

Good morning, y'all.
Is the Aus/Brazil game on this morning? I can't find it.
1Carol, you're right, this is very hard...can't seem to find anything! I've been tivo'ing cnbc since 3 am (just incase) and it's not on yet.
Argh!
SDMF
Edited for sanity reasons: OK, I decided to check out the schedule again, and the game is over... I'm very confused by this. Did it wind up on another station? |

China v USA is on SBS tonight in Oz - 1am WST, 3am EST.
SBS are also showing a finals match in both the 1/4's and semis.
Nice to see the Opals get some good coverage, now the swiming is over and we're a medal hope we should get more shown. Nice to see also today that Penny was being talked up almost as much as LJ. |

After multitudes of searching, I found Brazil/AUS time & channel on schedules. Being a bit doubtful, I set up both tapes & waited to be sure everything would be OK. All I got was badminton "gold medal round" wooop eeee! That was followed by water polo or hockey or whatever the F... it's called! I stayed up the whole F...ing time waiting and checking all F...ing channels to no avail. I AM F...ing PISSED    don't like making F...ing promises I can't keep... she screams into the darkness
I'm sooo glad you got to see most of it. My angry rant is a tad bit better knowing that. But..... I wanted to see it too. "she pouts" I was biding my time by planning the taped TV game pre-finals party for the "morning" of the 28th. We were going to have deviled & boiled eggs, bacon and lots of fresh fruit in the form of: bloody mary's, tequila sunrise, pina co-jones (pina means pineapple for you novices) and other healthy breakfast type eatables that can be prepared ahead of time.
Just typing that out makes me feel better cuz we'll just party anyway :D  |

Wow, I just spent time reviewing all the of the tapes I made and thought I had screwed up the taping, only to learn that it wasn't televised. (I had an early tee time this morning, so couldn't stay up  )
At least we got to see LJ on the phone and both announcers knew who she was and did talk about her skills.
The WNBA is getting some good publicity which is a good thing. |

| Yes'm lots of great publicity, even when the media is busy makin excuses for the "boys" they have good things to say about the WNBA Team USA. I think our ladies handled everything so wonderfully diplomatic. The media tried to goad them into sayin bad stuff about the "boys", but they wouldn't take the bait. So much class in one small group of women. I've also noticed that the rookies Amare, LeBron, & Carmelo have been showing some respect to our ladies by coming to some games on the low down. Not exactly wanting more publicity. That's OK |

Yeah, I noticed that too and then when Craig Sager decided to interview Duane Wade and asked him if he'd considered returning in 2008, he hedged and didn't say he couldn't predict what the future would bring. (loosley translated.. hell no!) |

Brazil vs AUS is on TV. I'm taping it for our Aussies friends.
...36........42 at end of 1st quarter
It sure is fun watching these games. Just like Merury old home week. Maria & Korstine from Russia - Penny, Harrower, Fallan from AUS - Iziane from Brazil
Then of course there's LJ & Janeth Arcain |

| If we watch the Aus/Brazil tape when I'm there, you will get the dubious benefit of hearing my snarky commentary ;) I wasn't very happy during the game and the TV monitor bore witness to my vocal outbursts. |
